Amanz’ abantu is an established company, formed in 1997 to act as the Programme Implementation Agent for the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry for the accelerated roll-out of basic water services in the peri-urban and rural areas in the Eastern Cape. Since this time it has been active in managing projects in developing communities as well as interacting and building capacity in Local Government. More recently, Amanz’ abantu has been undertaking projects and programmes for the development of human settlements and in particular, the management and construction of social housing projects.

Amanz’ abantu Services has a 70% ownership by historically disadvantaged firms and individuals. The Amanz’ abantu Investment Trust (A’aIT) with it’s 30% shareholding in Amanz’ abantu Services represents the collective interests of a number of small social consulting and development firms.

Amanz’ abantu’s mission is to provide affordable and sustainable municipal infrastructure and services, in partnership with Government Departments and Municipalities, to peri-urban, rural and developing communities, and is committed to:

The company has fully functional offices servicing the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa, these being situated in Buffalo City (East London), Matatiele and Lukhanji (Queenstown), as such, it is well positioned to provide a flexible, cost effective solution for project management and implementation services on behalf of it’s government clients.
